2020 Retrospective

My 2020 has been a year of discipline, improvement, surprises and awareness. I summed up all the positive aspects that happened to me personally and professionally and I will look back with pleasure, pride and peace – the best side of what my 2020 also represented. Putting losses, disappointments and heartache aside.

The Humanity:

The most regarded aspect of this year is the humanity factor that flooded and surrounded my life. Like never before, I experienced heartwarming generosity, mental and professional support, the sweetest & encouraging words and the highest appreciation and fondness between complete strangers. I am grateful for all my family, my (new) friends and customers that chose my products and services – your presence and recognition give me strength and motivation.

My Shop:

So proud of my shop that it survived this year! I wrote a few insights Here.

My Atelier:

This year I worked at the atelier like never before: over 3.000 hours in 12 moths. Almost every day leaving the atelier at 11pm or 12am – in a year of almost no weddings, events, office / school ways, holidays or tourism. All the hours were spent on sewing face masks, special orders for my customers or creating new designs for now or for the future normal times.

My Home:

Regardless my little free time, my new (old) house is offering me the best place to live. I have no words to describe the pleasure of living here, a dream come true. Sure, it is my personal perception – not many are willing to commute over 2h / day to and from work. But to me, this place is the answer to my prayers!

The Albertina Project:

The Albertina Museum Project. This project is one of my career highlights – unfortunately the pandemic didn’t offer us the best stage to present it to a larger public but it will continue to live and be made known, in the future.

The international interviews:

The journalistic exposure was such a pleasant and notable experience!

My Online Shop:

Since I reactivated my online shop in August, my work is reaching people and places that it would have never have the chance to enter. I received orders from the States, UK, France, Germany and Romania. It is a looot of work but I am grateful for all the creatives involved (my models, make-up artists, jewellery designers) and two of the photographer ladies that highly encouraged me to start with it: Andrea-Ioana Dumitrescu & Elena Azzalini.

Vorarlberg:

I rediscovered this wonderful county through my twin sister & her new family and @feschmarkt that took place this July. My first stay here was in 2005 when I took a summer job to finance my studies. Then, I never had the chance to return, until this year. As I am writing this post from a little village near Feldkirch, I can only say that Vorarlberg will remain one of the highlights. Not only for its natural beauty but for allowing me the chance to be with my family in such a sensitive time.

I am wishing you all a safe, joyful and peaceful start in the New Year! Hope to see your smiles in person, soon. xx
